Born in Genova, trained in Trieste and with a nomadic predisposition, Amanda is now based at Milano City Ink.
Her style can be described as somewhere between bizarre and naif, and casts a spell on all beholders.
Elements of pop culture, traditional American tattooing and childhood icons unpredictably melt into her designs, which can turn – with incredible and casual twists of register - from simbolic to fantastic, from grotesque to infantile, from sombre to ecstatic.
Amanda’s creative urge is so overflowing that her inner world has found room on canvas, jewels, dolls and accessories. Her subjects are friends and travel companions, to the point they have a name and story behind; her works are already sought-after fetishes in London, Osaka, New York and, of course, Milano.
When we open the shop and she doesn’t show up right away, we know she’s been working all night and will stagger in mid morning, covered in paint or glue, grinning like one of her dolls. |
